Cinderella
Once upon a time, there _________ (live) an unhappy young girl. She _________ (be) unhappy because her mother _________ (die) and her father had married another woman, a widow with two daughters, and her stepmother _________ (not like) her one little bit. All the nice things, kind thoughts and loving touches _________ (be) for her own daughters.
The poor unhappy girl, _________ (not have) anything. No dresses, no lovely dishes, nothing. No nice rests and comfort. She _________ (have) to work hard all day, and only when evening _________ (come) was she allowed to sit for a while by the fire, near the cinders.
That is how she _________ (get) her nickname, everybody _________ (call) her Cinderella. Cinderella _________ (use) to spend long hours alone talking to the cat. The cat _________ (say), "Miaow", which really meant, "Cheer up! You have something neither of your stepsisters have and that is beauty." It _________ (be) really true.
